Changing FIOS Router WAN IP

I recently had a problem accessing one 'net site. All other 'net sites were working ok.

The problem was resolved by turning off my Router for a period of time. Forum member eljefe solved my problem in this thread . Many thanks Smiley Happy

It was mentioned in that thread where there's a way to manually release the current IP manually, and to obtain a new IP within a few minutes.

Could someone provide a step by step procedure for this?

I have a Westell Model A90-9100M15-10 (91OOEM) with FIOS 75/35 residential service.

I did a little looking around in my Router and noticed, under the "Advanced" section, an option labeled "IP Address Distribution". Clicking the "Connection List" brings up a list that looks like it was the area mentioned in my other thread link.

Perhaps that's the correct area since I saw a list that is similar to what eljefe mentioned in one of his posts in my earlier thread.

My network (top of Page) > Network connections (On left)> On bradband Connection select edit under action list> Bottom of page select settings> half way down page you will find release renew buttons.

Thanks for the forum link and info.

I looked at my Westell Model A90-9100M15-10 (91OOEM) Router and I think the dialog screens are different from the Actiontec Routers or I wasn't in the correct area of the Router.

I tried to post some other screencaps of the Router but most of them were blocked by the forum's HTML editor.

However, I think I found the right screen. It's under the "Configure Connection" option:

That screen looks very similar to the Actiontec page described in the links referred to earlier.

I have no personal experience with the Westell router, but I suspect that if you click on the "Release" button, then immediately power down the router for a few minutes, then power it back up, it should work the same way it does with the Actiontec.

The strange thing about what happened to me, with that one 'net site, is that it always seems to be related to that site. I recall in the past that something similar occurred with DNS where I couldn't access that same site. I exited the browser and re-launched it and I was able to access that site. I've never seen that issue, or with the problem that you provided the fix, happen with any other 'net site.
