How can I speed up FIOS install

There's Fios across the street, but not in our building, I'm running after Verizon for more than a year now to provide us with service, so far with no luck.

The only thing I could get from them is an offer to sign up my email to get updated when service become available… the problem is that I have signed up last year, nothing changed since then.

I’m wondering if there’s a public office where I could possible file a complaint again the company, the service is available right here across the street,

It’s not fair to decline providing us with the service. We have here 10+ offices in the complex, the cable service we have is very slow and not reliable.

If Verizon would want to serve us - as it’s their obligation they could do so very easily.

Verizon moves at it's own pace for FiOS infrastructure roll out. If they've reached an agreement with your local government that includes time tables, you might be able to get your local representative to take action. That would be the only legal "obligation" that Verizon might have.

If you really want FiOS, you may have better luck moving to that building across the street.

I live in NY city, Verizon has obligated to provide FIOS service to all neighborhood through out the city.

Unfortunate they have not kept their promise, the new Mayer elect Bill de Blasio did start to fight for our rights See here, but I guess he has more important issues now...

Looks like public pressure works to get it faster.. See here.

So Verizon if you don't like negative publicity then provide us with some FIOS service.. we'll all pay full price, I'm not begging for a donation here. Smiley Happy

I'm guessing that while Verizon doesn't like the negative publicity (and there is plenty to go around, not just in NYC), the financials speak much, much louder.

Keep in mind that with FiOS, Verizon is replacing / overlaying a century's worth of copper wire infrastructure in a few years. And lots of that copper was installed under a regulated environment in which decade(s) long paybacks were baked into the corporate financials. FiOS is being installed much faster and in a radically different financial, regulatory and competitive environment than copper ever had to deal with.

As an example, just look on these very boards for the daily parade of people posting how awful the FiOS experience is for them and how they are going to switch back to cable as soon as their contract is up. And then look at what Wall Street expects from VZ's stock. Ma Bell never had to deal with such pressures.

I'll say again, the only practical thing you can do to get FiOS is to move to a location that has it. Either that, or put together a compelling financial package to purchase a majority share in VZ so you can control it or build out your own high speed network.

According to your first link, Verizon promised to have service to everyone by June 30, 2014. We're not there yet. (Unless you have a time machine. If you do, can I borrow it???)

Can you last another 7.5 months? Considering that most people in non-Verizon areas don't even have an idea of if it will become available, much less a solid date, I'd count my blessings.
