Paying my bill online is IMPOSSIBLE

I live in Manhattan and recently switched from Time Warner to Verizon for both cable and internet. I am trying to pay my bill online and it is literally impossible. I am trying to download the software to pay my bill (why would you EVER require customers to download software in order to pay bills online, i have NEVER seen or heard about any companies ever requiring this) and the software is not installing on my computer.

Please help. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

I think version has significant problems in the billing department, not only online. I paid my bill by May 24 through my online banking. They have not posted my payment by yesterday, and charged me late fee. I called my bank and was told that the payment was actually paid by May 25… Then I called the billing department at Version many times. It took me about one hour, eventually, I could talk to a person who would like to help me if faxing over my bank statement. I faxed it immediately after talking to her yesterday. However, I just checked my account online, the late fee is not adjusted (she told me she would do it)and there is no promotion credit, which I suppose to get for my quad plan… I have to call again tomorrow… I am so tired with this company and the horrible call!!!

What should I do? Does anyone know how hard it is for us to talk with a representative?

I was a former FIOS customer and I must say, FIOS is a great service but their billing service and customer service as a whole is horrible. I had setup autopayment with them and it took 4-5 months to work and during that time they charged me multiple late fees. I canceled their service in December 2009 and now it's June 2010 (6 months) and they haven't sent me my balance amount yet. They always want their money on time but when it's time to give other's money back, they can take forever. Not a good business practice. I am back to Time Warner Roadrunner and I am really surprised with their latest Docsis 3 service. I get 30Mbps internet for $50+ bucks which I think is really great.

Indeed, I have struggled (largely in vain) for two and a half years now to pay online. The systems always return an error message when I click "pay now." When I contact a customer service rep via online chat, I'm directed back to the original, problematic website. Even worse, the phone operators (for "Customer Service") are entirely unhelpful. Many, though perhaps not all, seem to be working out of overseas call centers. The hold times and wait times are excruciatingly long. When an operator finally does come on, they spend forever asking me to take steps that I've already taken.

The worst, though, is when I've encountered technical problems with my internet connection. Customer service is TERRIBLE. I had to fix the problems myself.

For a communications firm, the Verizon website is so unwieldy and difficult to navigate. So little is integrated. Can't wait to make a change.

Who are the "web developers" who have been "working on this issue" (per the above text of an online chat) forever, without success? Geez. What are we paying for?

I HATE the Verizon online bill payment. It is not user friendly and I never know what I owe so I end up over paying, I am sure Verizon likes this. You can't tell you status. Also finding a phone number to call is difficult, then you have to give your family history both on the phone and then to the agent who gets the call. If I had a choice and I do now that Comcast is available, but they are just as bad, I would change. Long live Ma Bell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just paid my bill yesterday online with direct debit from checking. No problems. My Verizon showed the same amount are the paper bill and all processed fine. ???? Paid last month the same way.
