I got FiOS from the first moment it was made available to my neighborhood over 4 years ago.
I received a terrible router that required hours of troubleshooting with e-mail responses from Verizon Support that took days and firmware updates that didn't do anything. Ultimately I gave up and settled with a router that I had to keep resetting every 2-3 days.
My 2 year contract was up and I contacted Verizon again about my router because I saw the commercials promoting a free router with every 2 year contract. They said I didn't qualify but they could replace it for a fee. I was frustrated at that point and paid them. They sent me an obviously refurbished device. (The shell casing was open and one of the screws was screwed all the way in on the INSIDE so it couldn't close right!) The power cable was also wrapped around the router.
Anyway, this device only required restarting about once a week or so and after another bout of useless "troubleshooting" making sure the power was on and that the cable was plugged in
I gave up and settled, for another 2 years.
Now my contract is up and I'm looking online at this package.
NO CONTRACT 75/35 Mbps + FiOS Digital Voice $89.99 month with a free Wireless Router included in the bundle.
That's more expensive than what I'm currently paying for my 15/5 Double Play package but the increase in speed is worth the extra money. (If it were up to me I would cancel the phone to save some cash but the price actually goes UP if I remove that AND I don't get a free router.)
So I tried to chat online with a rep. All I got was the "Would you like us to help you by providing a link to the packages..." shpeel. I sign in and the only thing I can do is renew or upgrade. Both options, as a current customer are a LOT more expensive than what I'm currently paying OFF CONTRACT.
Even renewing with the same services I will pay more.
I complained about this to the rep via chat and in much kinder words they effectively told me to {word filter avoidance} off.
Some time later I followed up and suggested to another rep that I would be willing to cancel (at no fee since I'm off contract) so I could qualify for this offer. I was told that they did not suggest I do that because I could not reapply for a while.
So my question is, how long after canceling can I submit a new request just so I can get the best possible deal?
I WANT to give Verizon my money but they are being so difficult about it... 😞
