Multi-Room DVR Help

I've read conflicting reports as to the abilities of an HD-STB to control a multi-room DVR.

#1. Are you able to pause/rewind/FF the DVR from the STB if watching a show recorded on the DVR?

#2. Can you pause/rewind/FF a live show from the STB -- I realize this wouldn't be possible with the STB itself, but would I be able to access one of the DVRs tuners from the STB and thus be able to use the pause/rewind/FF features?

#1 Yes.

#2 No. When watching live TV on the STB you are using the STB's tuner, not a DVR tuner.

The conflicting reports may be due to different models. I have STB model QIP7100 2 and DVR model QIP 7232 2. I would have expected other models to work the same.

What if I were to record the current show with the DVR, would I then be able to do it?

And would I have the ability to start the DVR recording from the STB?

The recording always takes place on the DVR. You can initiate the recording on DVR or STB, but that will not effect the playback capabilities on the STB.

I guess my only solution is to order another DVR and get multi-room capabilities.
