Back in the fall of 2011, I saw the new DVR boxes advertised as available, so I contacted my local FIOS store. They had both the set top boxes and the multi-room DVR's available. I swapped 4 set top boxes and a DVR (of which I had 2) for the new energy efficient STB's. I was told that I could only swap one dvr at a time, and that I would have to come back in a week or 2 so as to not screw up the billing.
When I returned to the store a couple of weeks later with my multi-room HD DVR, I was told they were no longer in stock, and that I'd have to wait til after the holidays. When I called the store last week, I was told that they would no longer be stocking the new DVR's in the store, and they gave me a link to upgrade to the 500Gb energy star rated box, with a onetime upgrade fee of $39.99.
I only want to gain the energy efficiency. I am an infrequent user of the DVR functionality, and would not get the return on investment of $40 in energy savings.
When I contacted FIOS support via live chat, I was given the runaround. When will a box be available to me and how do I go about requesting it?
