Email about credit card expiration for autopay-phishing email?

I just received an email from 'verizon' saying that I need to update my credit card expiration date for autopay. Well, first of all the expiration is nowhere near about to expire and I have recently gotten a fake email from verizon about something else. This latest email has their actual phone number on it to talk to someone. So, before I waste my time and sit on the phone for 1/2 an hour like I did last time with Verizon to find out whether this was fake or not, I was curious if anyone knew anything about this or has gotten a similar email?

There's an easier way ... simply logon to the Verizon site (www.verizon.com) -- type it in directly, don't click any links in the message and go check on your credit card information directly. If all is good, then simply ignore the message.

While you're doing that ... pay note to the notice about Verizon preparing to charge a $3.50 service fee for those who pay their accounts with an ATM/Debit/Credit Card. You may want to consider switching to a bank draft (Checking account) debit method to avoid incurring any additional fees.
