When I signed up for Verizon DSL years ago, I was sent a wireless modem and charged $17.xx for 3 months to buy the wireless modem. When I canceled service today, I was told that I had to return the modem. When I asked why when I had to purchase the modem, I was told that if I did not return it I would be charged $100. I was also told that the modems cost more than I was charged. However, that was the fee to purchase the modem then, and also when you sign up for service today, you get a free wireless modem (Value $55, same as I paid). Why would I not either keep the modem that I paid for, or be refunded the $50 I paid for the modem if I return it?
