How do I retreive a secure e-mail message from verizon?
You can't through the webmail.verizon.com website. there isn't a https:// for the website and pw are delivered in the clear. from what I know. closest thing to do is to use a secure email program and amp up the security on your PC and email program.

if I log in with that address, it stays secure until the next page pops up and then goes back to unsecure http header?
if I click on view emails from there I am looking at my email with the http still.

Even if it were HTTPS all the time, it still is not secure.
The content of the e-mail is on their e-mail servers, and they can read it.
That is what PGP is for. So, now not only is the log-in info secure - so is the content of the e-mail.
However at this time, I am not aware if Verizon uses PGP...
