It looks like Verizon has dropped their on-line BillPay Service so that they can change customers $3.00 to pay over the phone instead. Good idea for them!

Where did you come up with this? I am not due to pay my bill for a couple more weeks but I can go to MyVerizon and the option to pay is there. I selected Pay Now and began the process of paying, but did not go all the way through. Everything seemed to be working just fine. I sure hope they are not removing the option, I have been paying my Verizon bill through the website for more than three years, would hate to lose it.
I think you have the wrong information.

I did hear that if you pay online with a Debt card or Credit card there is a $3 fee. But if you pay with an ACH transaction there is no online fee. Checking Routing and Account numbers and they do a direct debt. I believe they are trying to cut their transaction costs and have the customer pay their overhead. Like with all the different fees I think should be a part of a companies business. But many companies are doing this now. Sorry as it may be. But I have not heard of forcing customers to pay by phone. There is usually a much higher cost involved with that, and many companies charge as high as $10 for phone transactions.

Verizon recinded the $3 fee quite some time ago, too many complaints.
I paid my previous bill on the Verizon website via ACH on 1/26/2011, no problem. And it is currently, right now, 30 seconds ago, still offering me the opportunity to pay via the web. So I think this is just bad info by the OP.
I'm with Justin ... online billpay is the way my bill paid itself a few weeks ago and remains and option on the user interface for me. What Verizon did remove a while ago was the ability to "schedule" payments with a credit card (you can still do that with ACH). I think that had something to do with being able to process the credit car transaction (which needs the three digit code and they are not permitted to store per PCI regulations).
I have spent hours trying to pay online and also getting help by phone...more hours...no help at all.
I have paid online for years and could not get anything to work...said service unavaiable.
Ended up paying by phone...hope they get the pay online up again
I do not understand. Online pay is working for me. What Browser are you using, have you cleared your cache and cookies, and where are you accessing it from?
Does your MyVerizon page look like this, minus the scribble? This is my bill page. You may be accessing the pages from an old invalid link. Since My Verizon 2.0 many of the old links are not valid, and may take you to bad pages. Try MyVerizon.com and start from there.
My make a payment page accesses from the link to the right that is in yellow. If no amount is do, it will not allow access from the MyVerizon hone page.
I have used online payment for at least 3 years...this time got http/1.1 server unavailable.
I talked to many on the phone and no one had an answer. I reset twice with the same results.
Ended up paying by phone. Oh, and yes, my page looks like yours. And I access it from myverizon/i am a registered user.
Thanks, jdowdy

That sounds like it might be a DNS or a routing problem if you can't get to the server at all. What DNS do you use? I use OpenDNS, have found it to be very reliable, and it is free. I switched away from Verizon's DNS several years ago when they just couldn't keep it working correctly on a regular basis. You might give OpenDNS a try, or some other provider, and see if it makes things any better.
I have the same problem & Verizon never answers the question. I have not been able to pay on-line for months & get suckered into paying the $3 phone fee. This is **bleep** and just downright annoying. Maybe it's time to look at Time Warner Services!

If you are unable to pay online for 3 months, then start having them mail you a paper bill. Return the bill with a check by postal mail. A stamp cost a lot less than $3.
