love the way something gets added to your bill

just got my bill - last month had problems with being billed for boxes I did not have - got those charges credited now new bill is showing a $16 charge for Starz Playpak unlimited which I never ordered and do not want - at 65 yrs old I am not interested in games package and am curious as to what their explaination will be when I call tomorrow about it. I would like to just once get a bill with no extra charges on it - nice way to do business Verizon - fix one charge and add something I didn't order on the next bill and the best part is you can't even remove it online - how nuts is that

Any children around? I know if you do not go into settings and enable parental controls, and also set a purchase pin, those items can be purchased by the push of a button. Intentionally or not. Even if you set parental controls to the least restrictive setting, you can then go and set a purchase control pin number, which is the first thing I do on every box startup. I set the controls in my house to block all rated R and above, also unrated, then I set the purchase pin.

The mysteries of Verizon billing. Are they deliberately made too inscrutable for intelligent, reasonable people to understand?. If you truly want billing confusion,, chat or speak with a representative about the mysterious charges added to your bill.

If you want to set something like this up, then you would have to do this on each cable box.

Use the remote. Hit menu/setting/parental controls

It will ask you to create a password. Make up a 4 digit password, enter it on the keypad and hit ok. A very similiar screen will pop up and say confirm password. You should enter the very same password a second time and hit ok.

Now that you are in, you have three main ways to apply controls.
1. You can block an entire channel (I.e. playboy or hbo or cinemax)
2. You can block content by rating.
3. You can block purchases (anyone wanting to do a purchase will be required to put either a parental or 2nd purchase pin)

For your request, go down to "control purchases" you'll see how it is set to no pin. You want to make the check mark and put it next "use parental pin" (they will be required to use the pin you just made) or put the checkmark next to "use purchase pin" (this will require that you create and confirm a seperate and new pin just for purchases)

After that your done. So it seems like a lot of steps but its not too bad.
Condensed, they look like this.

Menu/settings/parental controls.
Create pin/confirm pin
Select control purchases and finally select use parental pin.

Rinse and repeat with each cable box that you need this for.

no children here - and have parental controls active - it just appeared this month and am still waiting for my credit well guess what I am going to deduct it from my bill - gotta love customer service via email - was told it would take 2 billing cycles to receive a credit and yes they will remove it - these phantom charges made by their customer service people has to stop but no one wants to stop them am really **bleep** about this

already have parental controls set up that is the funny thing - I never even access that feature -
