Basic Backup Assistant Question--trying to avoid data charges

Hi--

 

I have the Samsung Sway and do NOT have a data plan (my plan is the America's Choice 450 min. plan with an additional $5 per month for 250 text messages).  I downloaded the Backup Assistant and understand that there will be a data charge (probably $1.99) for this download.  As I understand it, the Backup Assistant (BA) syncs once a day at a time I've specified on my phone.

 

My question is, will I be charged for data service each time my phone attempts to sync with the BA? 

 

Under "Top Questions" at http://support.vzw.com/clc/features/data_services/backup_assistant.html it states, "An automatic backup will only occur if there have been changes to your phone's address book since your last backup."

 

I take this to mean that if I don't make any changes, there will be no attempts to sync, and therefore no charges.  Is this correct? 

 

And finally, will I be charged (at what rate?) if I DO make a change and a backup occurs?

 

Thanks for the clarification.  Just trying to avoid unexpected charges, and it's hard to get specifics from the Verizon web site.

There will be no charges for data for the "sync" - only for the initial download, which is normally under a megabyte and so will cost $1.99.

I have had/used BA on several phones for years, and we have never had data charges. I set the backup times and then forget about it.
