I just had FiOS installed and cannot get my Slingbox 500 to work with it. Slingbox will only work when the TV is on and even then you cannot control anything. i.e. change channels etc.
Did you remember to place the IR from the Slingbox so the FiOS set-top box can receive signals? Yes the set-top box has to be on or otherwise you would just see "Press Menu to watch FiOS TV".

Yes. The old IR remotes will still work with the new STBs.
