Why is there an $50-80 upgrade fee to switch to quantium?

Why is there an $50-80 upgrade fee to switch to quantium? Why there even be any fee to upgrade if im intalling it myself? I want to get the better DVR but i dont know if its worth paying the ugrade fee ontop of paying like $11 more a month on top of my current DVR change.

I beleive that some cell phone providers are charging upgrade fees as well when you upgrade your phone.

So unless you want to keep jumping providers or not get new functionality, you are stucking paying upgrade fees.

Call them. Tell them you want to reduce your service to just FIOS internet and you will be getting Genie from another provider with 5 shows at once, blah, blah and all for free. If you are near your contract renewal they will eave your fees. If they don't, go to the other providers.
