VOD Hesitates

Folks:

When I try to watch VOD, the show will hesitate every 15 to 30 seconds or thereafter for three to ten seconds. It is incredibly annoying and basically makes it impossible to watch.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?

This has been going on for a very long time.

This does sound very annoying! Our first suggestion would be to try a reboot of your FiOS router, and once complete, a reboot of the STB that you're viewing the VOD on. I periodically reboot my own equipment 2-4 times per month after experiencing similar and haven't seen it since.

To reboot your router, power off or disconnect power. Internet is back up when the Internet (globe on Quantum Gateway) comes back on green/white.

To reboot your STB you can pull power cable, hold down the power button for 10 seconds and release, or with the remote while surfing the couch (my favorite way!) Menu -> Customer Support -> Top Support Tools -> Reboot STB.

I've experienced something similar. A trick I found was to hit pause, wait a few seconds, and then hit play. This might work for you, in lieu of an actual fix.

I have rebooted, restarted, unplugged, switched boxes, let things set for a while and still this occurs. I will call the help desk when I get an hour to spend with them going through all the same steps. If someone can help me figure this out it would be greatly appreciated. I have had great performance with FIOS until about a month or so ago. My VOD hesitates and I can not see 'Pink' anymore on EPIX .Help...?

I started having a similar problem after a recent STB update back around Nov. Before that no issues. Now VOD pauses, stutters, pixalates, etc making it sometimes unwatchable. Re-booting the STB does seem to help for a short time (a day or two) but then VOD acts up again.

I saw a post on another forum which indicated that the user noticed that VOD paused when the STB was acquiring it's IP address from the router. For some reason it was doing it every 5 minits or so. I have not had time to try to verify if that is the cause of my issue or not.

I recetly learned that "rebooting" by removing power is not the same as a reset.

Not until I used the "In Home Agent", which did reset my box, was my problem (search not working) solved.

Here's how to get the In Home Agent:

On the box, is it able to get on demand access also? There isn't any known issue to prevent it from being able to utilize the search function. You can always download the In-Home Agent as well at https://care.verizon.net/iha/IHAPC.aspx and actually reset the box using it instead. A reset using this program is different than unplugging the power cord to the box. Try that and let us know.
