I have seen many messages with this same problem. I tried to reply to the messages, but they are locked. I wonder if this is because Verizon doesn't want people to know they are ripping them off. I switched to Verizon in January from Comcast because my parents switched and were very happy with the installation/deal/service for the week that they had it. They told me about the deal and I realized I would get more channels for less money plus a $500 Visa card. So, I went home and signed up for the deal online. I printed out my order summary and on the bottom it said $500 Visa card will be issued after 60 days of service with no late payments and will take 90 days to ship. Well, it had been 90 days so I called Verizon yesterday to inquire about my Visa card. I was told that since I elected to have the DVR for life I wasn't eligible for the Visa card. I told them that was not on my order summary and after getting shuffled around from person to person, I was finally given an email address to send the printout of my order summary. The email address did not work! I called back and was told that there was no record of anyone giving me an email address when I had just talked to them 5 minutes earlier! I then told the person that I talked that my parents had the same package as me and they received the gift card. The representative didn't believe me! She said that if I called in January they would have fixed the problem. In January I had it in black-and-white that I was getting the gift card! My mother gave the information for a person that helped her out, so I sent the attachment showing that I was due the gift card and she replied that I had to call 1800Verizon! I explained that I did and she said she couldn't help me over email. I gave her my number and she said that they can't call out on Mondays!!! Who does that?? Nowhere on their advertisement or in their ordering process does it say that if you choose the DVR then you aren't eligible for the Visa card. Even when I ordered my services it did not say that by choosing the DVR you are forfeiting the Visa card. If it did, I wouldn't have gotten the DVR. This is false advertising! I was told that I would get a call back today, but reading this site I'm not expecting it. Time to call the BBB and my attorney general!
