Box automatically sets time once it connects to the network.

What box did you get ? None of the newer models have a clock or channel display. The 1100 series was the last to have any display.
Don't take this wrong ... but you probably need one of these new set top box accessories from your favorite local online retailer .... 🙂

I had the same issue ... got so attached to the clock on the box that when I went TiVO and installed all new boxes and lost the clock, I found the easiest solution to be to go out and just buy a couple of the cheapest LED version of the above that I could find and sit them on top of the units.
