Just signed up for FIOS triple play - with free multi-room DVR offer in November 2011. As it was explained to me via sales, they were shipping the new 500gb motorola 7232s with this offer which is also the same feedback I have received from other new subscribers in my neighborhood and is the multi-dvr. To my dismay, what was installed was an old 6416 multi-room DVR. I checked in with my local fios store and was told the only way to get a 500gb DVR was through the web, so i signed up to be notified and got the email I qualified.
When I wrote to confirm that I would continue to get the multi-room DVR for life discount, I was shocked to hear that by "upgrading" from the "old dvr" I would no longer qualify for the free for life discount. How can this be? Lots of new subscribers like myself are receiving the new boxes with the multi-room dvr for life discount also.
To add insult to injury, I received a different email from Verizon today touting the new channel guide with an intriguing link about exanding my DVR capacity with eSata drive. When I clicked to learn more I discovered that the model DVR I have was too old and not compatible with the esata upgrade they were advertising, that keep in mind was just provided with my brand new installation in November of 2011, that's just a few weeks ago - and my equipment has been out of date for years.
I'm just looking to get one of the current DVRs that are being sent to new installs like myself with the free multi-room DVR for life discount. Who do I talk to? I am not under contract - but am a new customer.
TLDR;
Was provided a very old 6416 multi-room DVR with a new install of FIOS triple play with "free multi-room dvr for life" less than two months ago - was expecting 500g 7232DVR that is being provided to many other new subscribers like myself under the free multi-room dvr for life promotion in my neighborhood but I am being told that by upgrading my hardware now will lost the free multi-room dvr for life discount.
Please help!
