Well it was that time of year again when my agreement is up with Verizon for my FIOS service and I called to see what deals I can get. Being an existing customer there are no deals out there. My choices were to upgrade my service for an additional cost or downgrade for a slightly reduced cost. It is obvious that Verizon only wants new customers and doesn't care about customer retention otherwise you would be able to get the same deal as new customers. The upgrade deal I was offered for $129.99/mo a new customer can get for $119.99/mo, plus they get a free Multiroom DVR and an HD settop box free for 18 months, which is a $539 savings according to their website. I've also tried to upgrade my 6 year old Multi room DVR for the newer one with the bigger HD and was told I have to pay $40 to upgrade. I've paid them about $1400 for my current one and they want me to spend more money. They didn't even try to give me a deal. The response this time was your bill will probably go up by about $10 in a few months, which will make the more expensive deal look better, but until then you can look to see if any better deals come up. I think after 6 years it might be time to find a new provider.
