What exactly happens on the other persons phone when you activate the locator? I have an LG Voyager

It let's them know that their parent is trying to locate them when they are doing something wrong. The teens know this and there is an app that they downhold to block their location. On your end it will come up with an error code. It's a waste of money, get rid of it. if you want to know where your family is, do it the old way. Have them call you from a land line to get the caller ID. Don't waste your money on these Verizon gagets, they never work right. :smileywink:

Receive free arrival and departure updates when family member's device enters or leaves designated locations.
Get free scheduled updates with location information at chosen times of day.
Get spoken turn-by-turn directions to the location of family member's device (VZ Navigator required).
Send text messages to all family members at the same time.

The Locatee can be located only when their handset is:

Turned on.
Not roaming.

To use Assisted-GPS (Global Positioning System), the locatee device must have the Family Locator Member client/application downloaded.

The Locatee's device can only be located using Assisted-GPS when the device is:

Turned on.
Idle (not on a call or using a Data application).
Not roaming.
In a strong Verizon Wireless National Enhanced Services Rate and Coverage Area with sufficient signal strength.
Sufficiently charged.
Without a full text message inbox.
When the family member permits the locate if the privacy setting is set to Ask Before Sharing My Location With Family.
When the family member does not hit end/cancelwhen they see that the phone lights up indicating it is being located.

I'm starting to think this is a waste of money also. Every since it's been 'upgraded' I've had nothing but problems. There are way too many ways to get around being located and the **bleep** things only works half the time anyway. My bill is high enough...I only wanted this for 'peace of mind' but it's becoming more of a headache!
