Questions on international travel and switching phones around

Hi. I hope i am posting this in the correct area.

I currently have a droid x that i recently upgraded to a few months ago. The phone that Ii was previusly using was a blackberry with a GSM slot for world travel. Now i dont do much of that, but i am actually going to be going to Europe in a couple months. I want to be able to use the blackberry overseas with probably a local sim card (sim is already unlocked). I have a few questions regarding this though:

1. Do i need to deactivate the droid temporarily and then activate the blackberry for a couple weeks so i can use it wiith the gsm sim card. Or can i just use the blackberry with activating it since I will only be using the GSM part of it?

2. If i have to deactivate my droid and reactivate the blackberry and then when i get back home reactivate my droid, is there any charge to this?

3. I have always had the total equipment protection plan. If i have to activate the blackberry, will this be covered for the couple weeks i am overseas or would i need to buy additonal insurance temporily for the blackberry?

Be sure to also again have international service activated

1.In order to use the Global device outside the U.S., you must have the I-Dial Feature and an active SIM card. You can activate the device at any time.

2.If you are activating a CPE (Customer Provided Equipment) device on a line that has WPP / TEC, the insurance can remain active if desired.

The insurance can remain active on the phone line, but it will be protecting the droid, not the BB.
