Local Area Connection

Every few seconds I get a little pop up bubble in the lower right hand conner that says: Local Area Connection a network cable is unplugged. My network cable has never been unplugged. I called verizon online support and after a long time they tell me that my cable or eathernet card are bad. I knew that they wern't but I replaced both any way and I still have the same problem. The only change is now the bubble says: Local Area Connection 4 a network cable is unplugged. I am running Windows Xp sp2 with a Westel 327w router. I have checked my speed and that's ok but that little pop up bubble is really getting to be a bother.

#1 Check the default gateway on your computer.

Which should be.. Go to Start -> Run.

Type in "cmd" (without the quotes) and press enter.

In the new window that appears, type in "ipconfig /all" (without the quotes) and press enter.

#2 When you go to the default gateway with your web browser, do you get to the Westel 327?

If so, which router guide matches the router that you have?
