"Sound Settings>Alert Sounds>Emergency Tone"

 

Ran across this setting on my LG Octane. Setting it is obvious. My question is: what is it? What does it do or what feature is it related to. Searches of the manual and the website have proven fruitless.

I googled it and came up with this thread:

Basically, it sounds a siren like tone when you dial 911, to let you know that you are dialing an Emergency number.  It seems there are advantages and disadvantages, some like it and others find it useless or annoying, even dangerous in some situations. 

 

Just FYI - I checked my settings and I have it off.  Thankfully, I've never had to dial 911 on my cell phone....
