Connecting with Kindle

Hi, I am new an apologize if I am in the wrong place. But I do need help. I had gotten a Kindle several months ago and set up the WiFi. However, the machine was defective and I have a new one. I am not sure which number to put in as the password, the SSID or the WEP. I tried both and neither worked.One said Authentication failed, and the other said, looking for IP address. I have an Actiontec router and did reboot it. Please help and thank you for your help. Is an o with a line thru it a zero or and O?

The easy part: An o with a line thru it = zero .

I'm not familiar with the Kindle, but would expect the WiFi setup to be similar to a PC. If so, you would need to enter both SSID and the WEP security code to connect. If you don't see where to enter those you are most likely going to have problems. The password should be what you use to log on to the Kindle, not the router. Though that could be a terminology issue.

While waiting for a Kindle user to assist, you could try the Amazon site. In my experience they have excellent customer service. The Kindle section has a lot of help topics and videos. You could also try the Kindle forum.
