Droid Ally - Texting Problems

I have the Droid Ally, and after I have texted for awhile, some of the buttons on the keyboard become shortcuts. For instance, the "e" becomes a shortcut for email, the "b" for browser, and so forth. I did not do anything to settings, and the only way that I can text with the keyboard without the shortcuts is to shut off my phone and turn it back on. It becomes very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to solve it? Thanks.

You'd be better responded if you posted this in another forum. You currently have this posted in the Motorola Droid Section. I also believe this phone you refer to is the LG Ally.

Yeah your making a very common mistake, you have the LG Ally not a droid phone, the Ally runs the android software, which is not to be confused with a droid phone.

I have this SAME problem. it is sooo annoying. I always just have to turn off my phone and then it is fine, but sometimes it happens almost 5 minutes later. I'm glad i'm not the only one. i hate this phone.

This may be similar to the problem posted by Mallosaurus.Rex at https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/792086#792086. I suggested checking out Home screen > Menu > Settings > Applications > Quick launch, which shows a list of shortcuts/hot keys using the Search button + an alphanumeric key, such as E for Email, etc. (This is on my Samsung Stratosphere; your phone might be different.) Is it possible that you are accidentally hitting or holding the Search key while typing? Otherwise it could be some defect in the hardware or software that was simulating a Search key press while you're typing.

Thanks, Dave, that fixed it for me. I don't know how I accidentally activated that annoying feature on my new Droid 4, but it just suddenly started launching Youtube with every "Y" and the browser with every "B" right in the middle of text messaging. I went through and turned them all off.

BTW...if anyone chooses to actually use this feature, they can still use the onscreen KB to text, and use the flip out keyboard for launching apps.
