Started yesterday at 1 pm. It effected my neighbor as well who is on EarthLink, which shares the Verizon lines. I called tech support 3 times with a lot of hoops which had no effect. Had already gotten a new modem a few weeks ago when we had an issue. Asked for a tech then, never offered a tech this time. Weird thing is that our Download is perfect however our Upload times out on
www.speedtest.net. This makes online gaming and VOIP impossible for us, which is the reason we have internet. After an hour on the phone I got hung up on, and never was called back. Then I called back and was told my issue is being looked into and ill get a call back, 12 hours later still no call back. It would sound to me like a backbone/lines/routing issue... however none of the Verizon reps seemed to want to admit to it. Neither were they willing to schedule someone, or give me any type of resolution. it is at least affecting two houses in the southwest VA area, but no one wants to call it an outage. However, the last outage here wasn't reported by Verizon either... Had to read about it in the papers. I absolutely hate Cable internet, but I had issues with Verizon in another part of Southwest VA for DSL, and had to switch. I guess ill have to switch again if this isn't cleared up in a day or so, because I am NOT going through the months of problems I had at the other location.
