Slow DSL Connection, here's my Transceiver statistics

I have been reading the forums to determine if I can somehow get a faster speed. I'm signed up for the 1mp-5mp plan and currently get around 1.1mpbs* The * is because I normally have to reset my modem 2x a day because the speed will all of a sudden drop to about 0.3. Once I reset I get back to the 1.1, the highest I've ever gotten is 1.4

Your line isn't synced up correctly, which is what would be causing the slower than expected speeds you are seeing. This seems to be due to distance and noise as a result of distance. If you have access to your NID (see this FAQ for information: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/1317 ), plug your modem into the NID's test jack to see if the Transceiver Statistics are any better. If not, ADSL2+ could be added to the line to achieve 1.5Mbps. Otherwise, I would suggest a downgrade to the 1Mbps package since when you're receiving now is only marginally faster on the download; not worth the extra a month on the bill.

So I spoke with a Verizon tech today and he told me that I already had ADSL2+ on my line and that my copper line can't get anything higher than 1.1mps. He said my only option if I wanted higher speed was to find a different service provider. I wish I would've known before I signed up for the plan that I actually couldn't get the speed, eh. I guess I don't have any other option but to look elsewhere.

Realistically, your options are limited. You don't just need to change service providers, you need to change how you get the service. Anything that runs via your Telephone line is going to have the same problem. Your downlink loss figure is the problem, and it is improbable that Verizon will do anything about the copper pair you have. DSL isn't a tariffed service, so Verizon has no legal obligation to provide it. Verizon is required to provide a toll grade voice circuit for you telephone, telephone is a tariffed service. Unfortunately toll grade voice is far less demanding of the copper pair than DSL.

1). If you have cable TV service, you can probably get Cable Internet, which is generally considerably faster than the 1.3mbps your transceiver reports. That tends to be more expensive.

2). You can go wireless, however wireless is unlikely to provide a dramatic speed increase, and the cost will also be substantially higher.

3). You can go with a Satellite based provider such as HughesNet, Wild Blue or Starband. These services have bandwidth limits that are a problem if you want streaming video, or want to download movies. VOIP services such as Skype or Vonage don't work very well with sat based services however. Sat based services are also substantially more expensive if you want comparable speeds.

4). You can wait for FiOS to become available in your area (which could be a very long time)....FiOS isn't sensitive to distance from the Central Office (or the weather)...
