Verizon 1MB dsl

If I get the 1MB dsl through phone line Verizon Dsl, will I still be able to use that same phone line on a dial up internet from another ISP at the same time? I want to keep a low cost dial up for a backup net connection in case of a modem failure with the dsl as I need the net connection to be working every day?
