HELP!! Can't send email to a group contact list

I have a group contact list set up with 21 email addresses. When I try to send it I get the following message

Connection to server failed.

Server 'outgoing.verizon.net

Protocol: SMTP

Port: 25

Secure(SSL): No

Socket Error: 10060

Error Number: 0X800CCC0E

I am using the Windows Mail to send the emails with. The computer is Dell, running Vista

Single emails go okay, but multiple ones will not send. Please advise why!!!!!

Do you have an antivirus/security program on your pc? It could be that it has an email scanner on it that is scanning your mail for viruses before sending, causing the connection to time out. It happens fairly often.

Try disabling it (ONLY TEMPORARILY) and see if you are able to send.

If it works, enable the Security software again and contact the manufacturer for info on how to configure the email scanner.

If it doesn't work, enable the Security software again and post here that it didn't. We can try something else. 🙂

Thank you for your response. I disabled the virus scan of emails and attempted to send the message again

to the group. The email did not go.

Anything else we can try?

Since you can send emails to a single address but not multiple (21), I wonder if it is a time-out issue. I have Windows Live Mail, not Windows Mail, but I think the settings are almost identical. For each email account that you have defined there is a server time-out value that can be set. The lowest value I can set in Windows Live Mail is 30 seconds; what do you have yours set to? And whatever it is set to, try lengthening it:

Accounts ==> some account ==> Properties ==> Advanced ==> Server Timeouts ==> move the slider to the maximum

Maybe this will help.

If the above doesn't fix it, you might try sending to 2 people, if that works try 5, etc, until you find the limit, and then tell us what it is?
