Netgear WNDA3100 wireless adapter won't connect to Verizon DSL wireless modem

We had a wireless adapter on my son's computer and it broke. I purchased a new one, a Netgear WNDA3100 and it won't connect to the wireless modem. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Did I purchase the wrong type of adapter for the DSL modem. The boys threw the other one away and I don't know what type it was. Until it was broken it worked great.

Just to ensure, have you verified the drivers are completely installed for the adapter? Also, have you removed the drivers for the old WIreless adapters? Lastly, if you are using WEP Security (I'd suggest upgrading to WPA2 if so), are you entering the key in all caps?
