DSL internet connection is sporadic, poor internet service

My DSL Internet service is very sporadic, goes out for days at a time. Thinking about switching to a new provider since the cost of this sporadic internet service was just raised $2.00 a month. Verizon is pushing FIOS on people who don't want it due to its high costs. They are letting the older DSL and landline system corrode.My service is terrible and sporadic, hate to do it since I have been a Verizon customer for 30+ yrs. Verizon get your act togther. Also, your international telephone help support system is a joke. Lets call India to get help????.

Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up. It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.
