After terrible Verizon DSL performance, I switched to Comcast internet this past spring. I went through every process Verizon had to cancel----informed them online, called numerous times and told them to cancel, wrote on the paper bill that the service was cancelled---all to no avail. In early September I got a notice from a collection agency representing Verizon that I still owed $30 or something. I called Verizon's collection department, talked to a representative, and he removed some erroneous billing, and came up with a final amount I owed. I didn't think I even owed this, but in order to end the trouble, I sent that in to the collection agency.
Today, I received another online bill---it hasn't been cancelled!
This is a great scam---provide terrible service, and don't let them cancel----and if they don't keep paying, threaten to ruin their credit. I currently tell everyone I encounter to avoid Verizon at all costs.
