NAT Only & Connection Dropping Out

Hello,

I've got a couple questions. First, what is NAT Only when it comes to firewall settings in the DSL router? I've got a GT784WNV model. Is it best to turn on the firewall or what?

Next question is: I've noticed my wireless connection keeps dropping out then eventually comes back a couple seconds after. It keeps doing this constantly and it is getting rather annoying. Just recently did I get a new wireless adapter and it seems to be working quite well and the reception seems to be better as well. I thought this issue I am having with the signal cutting in and out would be resolved when I installed the new adapter, since the previous one I had was a little older. I still have this issue though.

Any suggestions? The router is sitting next to our TV down stairs in the living room. There is no where else we can re-locate the modem at this time.

NAT Network address translation. A router can read the address info in the data packets. So it knows what device sent the packet. Since the communication started internally, the firewall opens to let traffic out and return back in. It is then passed back to the original computer that sent the packet.

For the signal issue try changing the channel the router works on.
