Blocked calls

Good morning.

I am having an issue with trying to receive calls from my brother and it tells him that this number has been blocked.

I don't see any 'blocked numbers' on my list. Does Verizon have a certain set of numbers that they do not allow?

My brother is in a state institution and uses the institutions phone system if that may be an issue as well.

No its a pre paid call.

Then the number calling you is a number of the prepaid card company, not necessarily where he is at. Do you know the prepaid company??? Although I would not know why they would block your number

Its MCI as their carrier. I called them and there was no block on their end either. I am stumped.

Collect calls cannot be made from or received onwireless devices. This includes collect calls from incarceration facilities. The facility phones maybe set up to call out as a collect call.

My husband is a retired Sheriff Deputy and worked at the jail for several years. He said that even if an inmate uses a calling card, it routes as a collect call (at least from his facility). Hope that helps to troubleshoot your issue. Have a great New Year.
