3/1 install today...

Brand new install, brand new home.

Guy's gone already, but before I had noticed he hadn't trenched any of the wiring. Is that on him, or on us?

Also, was told over the phone, that I'd be 3/1 service. Currently at 1.8/0.4. Router is the DSL2750B. I have a Zoom I can hook up to test to today. Just curious what's going on here.

Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up. It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.

a) When you look for the transceiver Statistics, this text gives to you an idea of what to look for:

Line Mode, Data Path:, transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path, DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec), Margin (dB), Line Attenuation (dB), and Transmit Power (dBm).

b) As where the transceiver Statistics are located in the DLink 2750:

To my knowledge, no one has managed to find and report the location of the transceiver Statistics page on the D-Liink mode, so we'll need Verizon to grab the stats from the DSLAM, and while they're at it, check the logs on their end to see if the line is dropping out physucally, or is dropping out on another sense.

I would like ot note the attainable rate as per the router... 21560! 21megs?

Speedtest.net puts me at 1.8/0.53.

Right, so that line should be good to go for much more speed. ADSL2+ is there, meaning you could get 15Mbps, and the line is actually short enough to get that. Have Verizon turn your speed up in a manual sense, and disable the optimization system that they have which will automatically adjust your speed. Start at 10Mbps and work your way up. Ask for FastPath as well, but at those higher speeds I don't believe Verizon may be setting FastPath on the line for the sake of stability.

The process in a nutshell of getting a manual speed on Verizon's end is this from my own experience. Customer asks for a specific speed and the speed is within the package (1.1Mbps-15Mbps), agent checks the database to see if the equipment is qualified for the tier. If qualifies is yes, a work order is generated to turn the speed up - no tech dispatch. The speed can be adjusted within a few minutes since it's simply a software setting. If qualification is no, a work order should be generated to qualify the line for a higher tier. Once qualification is complete, a second order is generated to turn the speed up.

If you run into trouble or don't wish to wait a few days for the optimization system to crank your speed up (it tends to run at night), let me know and I'll get you to someone who can help.

Seeing as when I originally was only pulling 1.8/0.4 they were giving me the default line of "Well, i guess that's the best you get", I don't think they'll be helpful ramping up my speed, Smith.

At the very least, I just want the max of what I'm theoretically paying for (1.1-3). At the best, I wouldn't mind getting the 15mbps. The only reason I didn't set up with 4G LTE is because the plans and pricing are awful. I fought to get this DSL line established (when they were "out" of lines, or didn't service my address [because it was brand new, literally], or had no plans of establishing service...).

I would absolutely love to get better service, if you can help me out!

Also important to note, this is all with unburied cables and splices left to the open air. But I don't think it will get worse (by much anyway).
