SMART TV

I recieved a SMART TV for Christmas and I cannot get it to connect to my WIFI signal.

The distance from the cheesy modem is about 35 feet with only one wall between the modem and new TV.

Can my modem be upgraded - it seems the longer you are a customer, the less you get services that work, My internet has frequent breaks in service/
I should not need to use the ethernet cable for reliable service,

Please advise how I can get this new TV to connect to the WIFI

It seems you have two separate issues if your Internet suffers from both intermittent performance, and Wireless issues. We'll break these into two parts.

First, is the spotty performance, or poor performance showing up only while on the Wireless or while also on the Wired network?

Second, what type of Wireless security is currently in use on your router? Please include the encryption type (eg: WEP, WPA2). If WEP, include whether your key is a 64-bit, or 128-bit key. If WPA/WPA2, please state if your security is using AES, TKIP, or AES/TKIP mode.

Third, what router do you have?
