I told you. I mentioned on here before that verizon was going to drop gol tv once BeIn sports was added and now i just received an email confirming that verizon will be dropping gol tv from the fios tv lineup on may 6, 2013. Verizon is dropping the english feed of gol tv channel 313 but for the moment will keep gol tv en espanol channel 1523 where if the viewership for gol tv espanol is low then you may see that go away too. They are doing the same thing that comcast and directv did where they dropped gol tv in english first where they are keeping tabs on if anyone is watching gol tv en espanol where if people are not then you can say adios to gol tv espanol channel 1523. BeIn sports has the rights to all of the best teams who play soccer including the U.S. mens soccer games when they are away except when they play in mexico which is often on univison or espn and since gol tv lost the rights to those soccer leagues and tournaments that people want to watch gol tv is now seen as being pointless to have. For those who do not know gol means goal in spanish so verizon is clearing trying to keep providing content to spanish speaking audiences who love their futbol/ soccer. Verizon is going to be adding more hd programming in spanish so people should be on the lookout for that along with the up and coming additions of caracol (colombian tv) and telefe (argentinian tv) where a channel from peru is being negotiated. I have been lobbying and pushing hard for the addition of peruvian channels where peru magico is one channel that is being negotiated where it would not be added until later this year if the negotiations go well. For those who do not know verizon has a free preview of the spanish package this week where BeIn sport espanol is available at channel 1538 so it may be there for you to watch for free this week although i can not say for certain if it is part of the free preview since i am already paying for the package. If you were to chaeck out that free preview it would give you an idea of what i and other people have been saying on here for a long time that very little that is offered in that package actually matches what is listed on the guide. While i will not bother people with those details since i already listed them on the "fios guide can't be trusted" thread on here what i will say is that now everyone in the country can see what many of us have been saying are profound issues with the spanish package where half the channels in it never match what is playing and it is all because of the free preview. Now everyone will know that as bad as the guide data is for most channels in english when it comes to the spanish package it is at least half of it where it is headed to almost the entire package not matching what is actually playing. There is also a free preview of the baseball package this week.
