I just noticed they are not available in my areas when they used to. Not even paper fliers. Did Verizon stop end its DSL service offers? 😕Thank you in advance. 🙂
It could be that Verizon is out of capacity and hasn't added more. Is FiOS around by any chance? Also, have you checked with other providers like MegaPath or DSLExtreme to see if they have something to offer?

Ah. I wonder how long it takes to get more. FIOS, nope. Not yet to the other ISPs.
I had a Verizon "district manager" knock at my door yesterday (in the Dover, DE area and in the snow). He told me that he'd like to get me off DSL and onto FIOS because "they don't like to maintain DSL anymore". He offered to raise my monthly fee $10 over the $44.95 I currently pay. This is currently $6 more than I was paying 6 months ago. I almost changed to Comcast when they raised my fee with no increase in services (or reliability).
I used to live in Indiana where Verizon decided it was not profitable enough for them to continue service, so they sold out to Frontier Communications who promptly raised my monthly fees by $12 despite promises from both companies that fees would remain the same.
Verizon is constantly trying to sell me services I don't want. I've been with Earthlink who told me I wasn't under contract then tried to charge a termination fee when I moved even though they didn't offer services in my new area..it was cheaper to just let the contracet that never existed, run out.
I had a bad experience with Comcast TV in the past.
This industry is competitive. I worked for a programmer for MCI at one time.
I know this is discouraging..this is an oligopic industry and will get worse if Comcast buys out Time-Warner, which will probably be approved in the current business climate, despite politicos chest-beating about income distribution.
I know this is soap-box stuff, but this is one place where things have gone steadily downhill since AT&T was broken up.
Oh, BTW, if I make any changes except to FIOS, I have to buy phone service from Verizon even though I won't use it. That is the "character" of Verizon.
What speed was Verizon trying to sell you for the $10 a month increase in price? There's likely a 15/5 plan they tried to get you on, but there is an unadvertised plan of 5/2 for those on DSL which runs the same price as the HSI Advanced package.
Honestly, minus the price increase what is the reason for not moving to Fiber for at least Internet service?
