Hello,
I'm at my wits end. For about two weeks now, we're battling with our router for a stable internet connection. It usually disconnects hourly. I let the Windows troubleshooter analyze the problem, and it is always the same: "The connection between router and modem is broken." So, we're shutting it off, restart the computer, shut the router back on after a minute and if we're lucky, the connection is back for another hour.
We replaced the ethernet cable just a few days ago, didn't help at all, in fact - it seems to have gotten worse.
Scanned the computer with antivirus programs in normal and safe mode for viruses and malware/spyware. Found nothing.
I'm glad I can connect to this site without getting d/c'ed.
We know that Verizon is currently working on their FioS network in our neighborhood and wonder if the connection issues may have something to do with that.
The router is very old. We got it when we first moved in here and got the plan with verizon. It's a Westell Model 7500. There are no updates for it's software available. Could it be that it's simply too old and needs to be replaced?
