They also have a 3d channel for special events. Hopefully more coming including 3Net. There was some unofficial talk about Talks between Verizon and 3Net.
There are also 3D offerings OnDemand from HBO (including AVATAR currently, along with NARNIA 3, among others) and STARZ (TRON, GREEN HORNET, PRIEST, TANGLED, SPARTACUS battle, etc.) Be warned...HBO 3D films are cropped. The ones on STARZ not so much, fortunately.
Note this thread in the Ideas forum. http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Share-Your-Ideas-with-Verizon/Add-3net-to-Verizon-FiOS-channel-lineup/idi-p/295065
In it Verizon's Twitter Joe identifies 3net as acknowledged and in the queue. Of course its been in that status awhile.
@MiamiBourne wrote:Looks like Avatar 3D is gone from HBO On Demand. Any idea when or if it will be back? I just got a 3D tv and now it's not available.
Guess they had to make room for RIO! This wasn't the first time that AVATAR was offered, so its always possible it might be back at some point. Till then, there is still the Cameron-produced SANCTUM.
Looks like the 3D fad is dying. ESPN shutting down it's 3D channel at year end due to lack of interest.

Until they invent a way to watch 3D without the god awful glasses it's never going to take off. I have a 3D plasma and I never watch anything in 3D because I cannot stand wearing the glasses.

Already invented, and available if you want to pay the premium.
Verizon always wants you to upgrade, OK add 3D channels (more than one) and we will talk - after all, more & more block buster movies are in 3D now - Verizon might as well wait until the last moment when Cable or Dish offers it in a package deal, I guess it is like the nay Sayers of old – remember: color TV is a fad ….. It will damage your eyes ….. Wide screen pictures do not fit my TV, why would they cut the tops off the pictures ?...... my old stile battery glasses that I never wear are too heavy (could have got the light weight sunglass style without the battery - lighter than reading glasses).
Director James Cameron mentioned that he is "going to do everything in 3D now". And with the upswing to reintroduce older movies as 3d (Titanic, Star Wars, Jurassic Park 3D, Independence Day, etc). I guess it is a fad that is getting bigger, weird.
Well I believe Verizon is missing out, but as a consumer I hope that we do not.

Same here. I love 3D. And I don't understand the issue some have with the glasses. People wear sunglasses, right? (And have you seen how much some of those cost???) And for those who wear eyeglasses, they have clip-on 3D lenses.
To the OP, in addition to HBO, Starz, and OnDemand, the Vudu streaming app (on your TV or Blu-Ray player) also offers 3D movies. There are other apps as well on both devices that offer 3D videos, such as 3D CRAVE, PHEREO 3D, 3D WORLD (Disney movies), YABAZAM 3D...heck, even YouTube has 3D vids! And that doesn't even take into account the hundreds of 3D titles on Blu-Ray...from older titles such as CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and Hitchcock's DIAL M FOR MURDER to current releases. You might also have heard that the original WIZARD OF OZ will be coming out on disc in 3D the first week in October. (I'm defintely getting that one!)
And, if you don't want to pay $15 - $25 for a 3D disc, you can just rent them! I use http://stores.3d-blurayrental.com/StoreFront.bok. They are an excellent service, very reliable, and I've been a satisfied customer for the past year.
As you can see, there are plenty of options for 3D, if you're so inclined. ESPN 3D may be going away (never watched it myself), but 3D at home continues to grow. (A 39% rise in 3D television sales thie past years year.) And Netflix is also offering movies in 3D on some devices (including the PS3). Sure doesn't sound like 3D is going away anytime soon!
ESPN 3D will posibly be deleted from lineup
@steven1 wrote: ESPN 3D will posibly be deleted from lineup
Yep. I predicted that a year ago. For the content they have, it's not worth the money. But that has nothing to do with 3D viability in other capacities, fortunately.

It most certainly has everything to do with the 3D viability in other capacities. Who do think gets the most money for most for their channels? With ESPN DROPPING 3D all other channels / providers will quickly follow suit.
3D is dead until it's put in as standard for $200+ TVs.
Probably be a few years until its in the under 200 sets. Particularly since 3d works best in larger sets. But it is already in some under 500 sets. More and more people are getting it, some without realizing its in the set they are buying. At least one manufacture has decided not to push it in their advertisiing for their lower cost models.
