I was happy to see the new Select package because we do not need any of the sports (or foreign language) stations, and it said that there were no sports. I had the Prime package, so I renewed with the Select package under the assumption that I'd get everything I had (plus BBC America) but no sports channels. Much to my sruprise, Verizon eliminated SyFy, FoxNews, and FoxBusiness (even though they kept MSNBC and CNN). This is a misleading description for the Select package and these channels should be included in that package.
I called Verizon and was basically told (in nicer words) tough! No, I don't want to "upgrade to a more expensive package that includes sports channels.
When I was ordering the website was not helpful because the so called comparison where you can choose one or more packages shows ALL of the channels including ones that cost additional money, rather than just showing the channels included in each chosen package. Looking through hundreds of channels, probably 50% or more costing additional money in each package is crazy. It should show only the channels included in each package so you can easily compare your current package to whatever other packages you've chosen.
It appears that Verizon doesn't really care about it's customers when they create false promises like this select package. Yes, it doesn't include sports networks, but other networks are also dropped that are in the prime package, the next one up and the lowest level package other than one that just provides basic broadcast channels.
