Once you go over the limit, you are automatically charged for another I believe 5GB.
If you are speaking of a 4G modem, you could call and upgrade to the 10GB plan. Just be sure to have it backdated.

I wouldn't think they would charge for 5 more gig. I thought there was a 1GB per $10 deal when you go beyond the limit.
I am not sure of what is added, but it happens automatically.
I just looked, a GB is added each time for $10 each.
