Unfamiliar Numbers Contacting Me

I have had two unfamiliar cell numbers that just started texting me a couple days ago. I blocked the first number then texts started coming through on a different number.They obviously know who I am because they use my name, but they wont tell me who they are. I ignore the texts but they are starting to get creepy... they text me at weird times asking questions like how I enjoyed my lunch at iHop or how I felt after working a double shift. It is most likely just a practical joke but even so that is really creepy. The issue isn't so much that they are texting me but that fact they are close enough to know what I am doing. Any way I can find out who is sending these texts?

You might want to talk to the police. hopefully they have some way of tracking down who is sending the messages. I hope you don't have a stalker.

You could also change your phone number through your "My Verizon" account. Just be very careful who has access to the new number.

Lydaf, in addition to contacting authorities, you can change the settings on your phone to only allow phone calls and messages to be received from those who are in your Contact List.

To do so, please follow these steps:

Restrict Calls/Messages:

With the flip open, from the main screen, press OK [Menu]
Scroll to Settings & Tools, press OK
Scroll to Phone Settings, press OK.
Scroll to Security, press OK.
Enter Phone Lock Code ???? displays.
Enter the 4 digit lock code, press OK.
Scroll to Restrictions, press OK.
Enter Service Lock Code ???? displays.
Enter the 4 digit code, press OK.

Location Setting
- Lock Setting
- Unlock Setting
Calls
- Incoming Calls
  - Allow All
  - Contacts Only
  - Block All
- Outgoing Calls
  - Allow All
  - Contacts Only
  - Block All
Messages
- Outgoing Messages
  - Allow All
  - Block All
- Incoming Messages
  - Allow All
  - Block All
Dial Up Modem
- Allow
- Block

Press OK to select the menus/submenus above.

Kelly, thanks for this info, I was unaware of this feature. When someone who is not in your contacts calls or texts you do you get any kind of notice that they tried? Also, is this available on all phones or just the Octane and others.
