Help unblocking phone for military overseas

I made several calls to verizon about getting my phone unlocked since i would be getting stationed in Korea for the year and needed a Korean cell provider. They all gave me different answers. No one wanted to help me. Im not willing to pay $88 a month because they don’t want to unblock my phone. I can’t wait the 60 day period. Im already in korea and struggling to get anything done without a phone. So now im here. Can anyone help?
