Music as Ringtones

Question

I purchased a droid 2 global a few months back that i LOVE!!!  I recently learned how to put music onto my phone but i want to use some songs as ringtones. i am able to assign songs as ringtones but they do not play in full the "verizon wireless" lady interrupts the song and it starts again then it goes to voicemail. how do i get the songs to play in full?

There are also ringtone and ringback tone makers applications in the market on the device.
