Called Verizon in Jan '25. Question: I would like to move a line from AT&T to Verizon if a "free" phone is available. Answer: yes , we can do that. Question: Do I need to go to a store? Answer (from Rod), no, I can take care of it. Number was transferred and Rod ordered a new phone to be picked up at local Verizon store. All good? NOT. Monthly bill doesn't reflect monthly device credit ("free") as committed. Multiple calls and chats with Verizon (including "supervisor") result in "sorry, there nothing we can do unless you want to upgrade your plan" the sales commitment from their agent Rod meant nothing. Fortunately, after 16+ years, there is something I can do...change carriers. Certainly not my preferred route as it will cost me to pay off this new phone, but worth it to escape the bait-n-switch deception that is Verizon. Intentional, or unintentional, Verizon is not willing to honor commitments of their agents (which they claim was recorded). One day, these illegal trade practices will birth a new, honest competitor. Can't wait!
