Using 3 Way calling as call transfer

I am wonder ing about using 3 way calling as a call transfer. We have two mobile phones on our plan, and many times I get a call that is really for the other person.

If I add on the other person, can I disconnect and leave them talking? Reliably?

The precise scenario is:

* outside caller calls VZW number.

* I answer

* I add on another VZW number

* introduce the call and bridge it.

* I disconnect.

Does the call survive?

I saw a thread recently where someone was saying the conference calling feature doesn't work well; they cannot add another caller. Seems to be a conflict with the current VoLTE and/or WiFi Calling technology. You could try it, but I'm not sure what will happen. The website has very dated information because it says things like you need to be on an unlimited plan and if you aren't then you get billed for minutes, which no service plan currently available has metered calling minutes any longer...

If this is a regular issue, I'd just tell the callers the other person's number is xxx-xxxx so they don't call you instead, and update your voicemail greeting to say the same?
