Hello, I have a paid off phone from that I purchased from Verizon but I'm unable to turn on the OEM unlock. I accept all responsibility and this phone is no longer under any warranty. Can you help?
Resolution Update: By partnering with support, we can clarify that to unlock the bootloader, you’ll want to reach out to the respective manufacturer of that device. If others have similar questions related Android based bootloaders, I recommend reviewing this Android.com page relating to locking and unlocking bootloaders: https://source.android.com/docs/core/architecture/bootloader/locking_unlocking
I happy we could clarify this and as always we’re a few clicks away should anyone need us.

Hello, I'm still not able to turn on OEM unlocking as its grayed out.
Thanks for contacting us. I will send you a Private Note shortly. -Ross
I've replied to the PM and am waiting on the side chat setup. I was told in the last PM chat that the OEM would ungray in a few days but after a week there has been no changes.
Hey Frozen, did you get your "OEM Unlocking" un-grayed out?
Device unlocking isn't something you can do yourself; the carrier who placed the lock must unlock it. If your phone was purchased directly through Verizon and it's refused to unlock itself per the device unlocking policy (you have to use it for at least 60 days on Verizon), then there is some kind of glitch in the system. I've heard of instances where a Verizon device was purchased outside of Verizon and that can be problematic too, because then the purchase isn't tied directly to your Verizon account and Verizon therefore can't vet the device history.
If you keep getting a "SIM Lock Appeal Denied" email when contacting Verizon to get your phone unlocked, try contacting the FCC and provide plenty of evidence you are the original owner of the phone and that you've otherwise fulfilled the requirements on the unlocking policy.

You need to get a refund from that seller. Sure hope they haven't "disappeared". Unfortunately, this is a common problem with buying phones from unknown vendors.
We can definitely appreciate wanting to get your device unlocked. We are only able to unlock a device with the original purchaser. So with devices that are not purchased from Verizon, you would partner with the seller directly so they can look at unlock options.

This isn't completely correct. My phone was purchased from Verizon at an authorized Verizon store and I am the original and only owner. Despite this, Verizon will not unlock my phone as I'm not currently using it after upgrading my phone last year.
Hello vzwcustomer11, we can take a look at the lock status of your phone. We will be sending you a private message to get more details. -Dee
