Have too many minutes on plan.

So I have a 1400 minute family plan and we use average of about 460 minutes. So I am looking to lowering the minutes to 600. I saw where I can do it on myVerizon, is there a fee to downgrade the minutes? Or can I just switch it and save the 20 bucks a month?

If you purchased your phone from a 3rd party provider (like Wirefly or Amazon) within the past 6 months, you need to contact them before you make any plan changes to be sure that those changes won't incur any ETFs with that company.

 

Otherwise, you can change your plan with Verizon at any time.  Just log in to MyVerizon and click on the Change Plan link on the front page, or go into the More Actions menu and choose Change Minutes.  I would reccomend that you forward date the change to the start of the next billing cycle to avoid any confusion and possible overages from pro-rating your bill (which happens if you make the change take effect during the current billing cycle).

 

Remember that the 1400 minute plan comes with 10 Friends & Family numbers, while the 700 minute plan does not include that feature.  For many users, having those 10 numbers puts their peak use well under 700 minutes, but without the F&F, the 1400 plan might not even be enough!
