Charge beeps and lights up while charging?

This past week tried putting the Charge in the "desk cradle" mode while charging at night on my nightstand and was wakened up at 2am with a loud PING sound and the display light beaming. this wasn't an alarm. i turned the display off and tried to go back to sleep but it kept happening until i took it out of desk cradle mode.

 

this morning it happened at 1am just while charging, so i unplugged the sucker. showed it was fully charged

 

anyone know what's happening here?

I have never personally had this problem, however, upon further research I have determined that other people are hearing the same high pitched noise when the phone is fully charged. I can only imagine how annoying it must sound.

 

Is this a new charging cradle? If it is, you may want to exchange it at the place of purchase.
